I had so many interests as a medical student and having won the Prof. E. A Badoe prize for Best Student in Surgery and Lucy Peprah Tawiah Prize for Best Student in Paediatrics amongst others for my set, I had a strong inclination then that I would forge a career in Paediatric Surgery.

Since final year, I have stumbled through the fog of the possibility of specializing in almost every aspect of medicine which I know most young doctors can relate to especially if you’re determined enough to excel at every rotation you do.

To cut the long story short, not having a mentor and guide to steer me along the right path early enough, it proved a longer and more arduous journey than it should have been. Thankfully, I was blessed to have a few people who connected with me and encouraged me along the way till date for which I am eternally grateful.

The road ahead is still long and winding but as I venture deeper into the world of psychiatry, I have a better understanding of how my strengths and passions come together in helping everyone I come across have a better understanding of themselves.

And with LAMS, my passion for teaching, mentorship and well as organizing and management also come together to provide the close guidance for medical students and young doctors that was not necessarily available to me.
